Travel Guide

We've put together this guide to make traveling to our wedding as simple as possible. If you have any questions along the way, don't hesitate to reach out — we're happy to help!

Getting to France

The closest airport to our venue is Toulouse-Blagnac Airport (TLS), roughly 30 minutes from the wedding chateau.

Most guests traveling from the United States will have one connecting flight, commonly through:

  • Paris (CDG)
  • Madrid (MAD)
  • London (LHR)
  • Amsterdam (AMS)
  • Frankfurt (FRA)

We recommend arriving in Toulouse between Friday and Sunday before the wedding to give yourself time to adjust, explore the city, and recover from jet lag.

Before the Wedding

We recommend staying in Toulouse until Monday and traveling to the Chateau Monday afternoon.

Toulouse is a beautiful city filled with excellent restaurants, cafes, museums, and historic architecture—making it the perfect place to begin your trip.

Things to Do in Toulouse

Known as "La Ville Rose" (The Pink City) for its distinctive terracotta architecture, Toulouse is one of France's most charming and walkable cities. Whether you're visiting for a day or a long weekend, there's plenty to see and do before the wedding.

Must-See Attractions

  • Place du Capitole – The heart of Toulouse, surrounded by cafes, shops, and historic architecture.
  • Basilique Saint-Sernin – A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe's largest Romanesque churches.
  • Garonne River – Take a stroll along the riverfront or enjoy sunset views from the Pont Neuf.
  • Cité de l'Espace – An interactive space museum perfect for families and anyone interested in aviation and space exploration.
  • Musée des Augustins – A beautiful fine arts museum housed in a former monastery.

Food & Drink

  • Enjoy fresh pastries and coffee at a local cafe.
  • Experience the bustling Marché Victor Hugo, Toulouse's famous indoor food market.
  • Relax at a wine bar and sample local wines from the surrounding Occitanie region.
  • Try regional specialties like cassoulet, duck confit, or fresh French cheeses.

Shopping & Exploring

  • Wander the charming streets of the historic city center filled with boutiques and local shops.
  • Relax in the Jardin Japonais or Jardin Royal.
  • Grab a drink on an outdoor terrace and soak in the atmosphere of southern France.

Whether you're exploring historic landmarks, enjoying incredible food, or simply wandering the picturesque streets, Toulouse is the perfect place to begin your French adventure before joining us at the chateau.

Getting to the Chateau

On Monday, make your way from Toulouse to the chateau and plan to arrive by 4:00 PM. This will give you time to settle in, explore the grounds, and get ready before the welcome party.

We recommend:

  • Renting a car (best option for flexibility)
  • Uber or taxi

If you are traveling with a group, splitting rides is highly recommended. The drive through the French countryside is beautiful and takes approximately 30-40 minutes.

Your Stay

Once you arrive, everything is taken care of. Included during your stay:

  • Two nights of accommodations
  • Welcome Party
  • Wedding ceremony and reception
  • Farewell Brunch
  • All meals and beverages from Monday evening through Wednesday morning

A nearby town just 10 minutes from the chateau has grocery stores, cafes, pharmacies, gas stations, and other essentials if you need anything during your stay.

After the Wedding

Option 1: Fly Home

Return to Toulouse Airport on Wednesday and begin your journey back to the United States.

Option 2: Continue Exploring Europe (Wednesday–Sunday)

If you have a few extra vacation days, Toulouse is a great launching point for exploring more of Europe. Consider extending your trip with a visit to:

  • Paris, France
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Madrid, Spain
  • Lisbon, Portugal
  • Rome, Italy
  • Florence & Tuscany, Italy
  • The French Riviera (Nice, Cannes, Monaco)
  • The Swiss Alps (Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken)

Many of these destinations are just a short flight from Toulouse, making them perfect additions to your European adventure before heading home.

Helpful Travel Tips

Passport

  • Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
  • Keep a digital copy of your passport on your phone as a backup.

Money

  • Credit cards are widely accepted throughout France.
  • Carrying a small amount of Euros can be helpful for markets, cafes, or smaller shops.

Cell Service

  • Check with your mobile carrier about international plans before your trip.
  • Wi-Fi is available throughout most hotels, restaurants, and airports.

Power Outlets

France uses Type C and Type E outlets (230V). Don't forget to pack a European plug adapter for your electronics.

Driving in France

If you're renting a car:

  • Reserve it in advance for the best prices.
  • Most rental cars have manual transmissions—book an automatic if that's your preference.
  • GPS navigation through Google Maps or Apple Maps works well throughout France.

  • Layers for cooler mornings and evenings
